Whilst walking along princess street I noticed a billboard/banner on the side of a church. The billboard consisted of a cigarette packet with missiles poking out of the top and the warning label on the side informing us:
"NUCLEAR BOMBS KILL".
My instant reaction was "so do conventional bombs" I then went on to think about it and so do cars and many other things (including staying at home!)
A quick look at wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atomic_bombings_of_Hiroshima_and_Nagasaki:
it is estimated that as many as 140,000 had died in Hiroshima by the bomb and its associated effects,[1][2][3] with the estimate for Nagasaki roughly 74,000.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_traffic_accident:
kill an estimated 1.2 million people worldwide each year, and injure about forty times this number.
Whilst in both cases, the numbers are estimates, it is still nice to put things in perspective. I am not saying we must or even should have a nuclear deterrent, just thought the poster thing was king of stupid and therefor influence my opinions on the person promoting the poster.
