Tomorrow will very likely be the last time I get to vote in the European elections. I am not completely sure who I will vote for.
It is a proportional representation system, therefore the choice should be simple: vote for the party whose policies match your own the closest. And yet I still find myself trying to game the system. Looking at the opinion polls and calculating how the seats will be distributed. The party that closest represents my views is highly unlikely to win a seat. But a second party also matches my views quiet well, just not as good as the first. This second party is in the mix and their success varies depending upon the poll used.
So do I vote ideologically or tactically?
The likelihood of one vote mattering is so small, I may as well vote for the party that is closest to me. But I may have changed my mind again by tomorrow morning.
