Today we received a letter in the post from an old friend. Someone who we used to spend a lot of time with but now live far enough apart that we are lucky if we meet once every couple of years.
The letter was handwritten and only the size of s small card, but it had a huge impact on my mood. Reading how their family was getting on filled me with lots of joy. Not as much as meeting up in person, but under the circumstances, as best as I could hope for.
I probably ought to use this opportunity to spread some joy myself and write my own letters to friends I don't see often enough. Though considering how bad my handwriting is, I suspect frustration or irritation would be the more likely emotions.
